Taking care of your Best Ever pad is an important part of your tack-cleaning routine. When hair and dirt build up underneath your saddle pad, it alters the fit and causes your horse discomfort. It doesn’t have to be a hassle, cleaning your pad is as easy as 1, 2, 3!
1. Brush off the thick stuff
This first step can be done as general daily maintenance for your pad. Use a body or tail brush (something that should already be in your tack room) to gently remove the excess dirt and hair on the underside of your pad. You don’t have to brush super firm, as the hair should remove itself quite easily, and you don’t want to cause damage to your pad.
2. Hose it off
After you’ve removed as much of the grime as you can, take it over to the wash rack! Turn your Best Ever pad inside out, and take a hose to the inside. Repeat on both sides until you are satisfied with the level of clean you’ve achieved.
3. Hang it up to dry
Find a nice place to hang your saddle pad inside out, preferably in the sun. After a few hours, your Best Ever pad will be good as new!
Don’t forget, your Best Ever pad is your horse’s first line of defense against the additional weight and stress that saddles and performing bring. Treat them with care, and they will keep your horse going strong for years to come.
