Best Ever Pads team rider Ryle Smith has been rodeoing on the pro circuit since 2010, when he bought his card.

Smith had some recent luck at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo in the steer wrestling, tieing for third in the first round and placing second in the finals with a time of 4.2.

“I always steer wrestled off and on since my rookie year,” Smith said. “This year I entered Fort Worth to get the rust knocked off before the timed event. I ended up getting to ride a great horse, and it turned out being my biggest win this winter.”

Smith drew some good steers, and was able to get a nice little paycheck.

“I had a blast, but definitely nervous on that last one. I wanted to win it bad,” Smith said. “I won the calf roping the year before, so I wanted a buckle in the steer wrestling too.”

He was mounted up pretty well too, on Cody Kroul’s horse, Roanie.

“Their horse has been to the NFR three times. I have always wanted to ride him, and he fits me,” Smith said. “He’s a proven winner.”

By the end of this year, Smith hopes to make it to the National Finals Rodeo in BOTH steer wrestling and tie-down roping.
