Austin Shirley has been roping for the past 16 years, and was introduced to it by his friend Tyler Pollard.
“It was actually working cows in my hometown with Tyler and his grandpa,” Shirley said. “We had to rope calves in the pasture.”
And the rest is history.
Shirley loves the rodeo road because of all of the action, and has some big hopes for himself and a yellow horse he calls Nacho.
“He’s 21 [fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][years old] and my go getter,” Shirley said.
He hopes to qualify for the Circuit Finals and the Indian National Finals this year.
Shirley is a new team rider, but has been involved with Best Ever Pads since 2014, but not in the way you’d expect.
“I actually got involved at the NFR,” Shirley said. “I was helping at the booth selling Jaco Brands tack and decided, ‘I’m here, why not sell both brands.’”
Shirley not only assists Best Ever Pads at their trade shows, but rides to represent the brand.
“You have to represent not only yourself as a person, but also as a symbol of that brand,” Shirley said. “Displaying the utmost manners, because when people see that Best Ever logo, they remember that and will remember the way you displayed yourself.”
Shirley has represented the brand and stuck with the company for the past several years because he believes in the vision that Ryan and Tammy started back in 2002.
“Not only are the pads the best on the market, but Ryan and Tammy treat us like family,” Shirley said. “The entire Best Ever company is a team.”
