Have you ever wondered how your saddle pad is made? Well, now you don’t have to! Best Ever Pads are an American made, 100% handmade product produced on the sunny Central Coast! Here is a sneak peak at how we make the Best Ever saddle pads.
Orders placed
After your order is placed with Best Ever Saddle Pads, we go over it to make sure we have all of the information that we need. Once we have everything squared away, we begin customizing your saddle pad!
Wool cutout
Depending on your pad, the roll of wool will be chosen and taken over to the press. The wool is laid over the top of a table, and a large metal cutout is placed over the top. As the press machine moves across the metal cutout, it works like a cookie-cutter to remove a piece of wool that will act as one half of your saddle pad. The process is repeated for the other side!
Stitches
After the two sides of your pad have been cut, they are stitched together with a thick thread. These threads will serve as the basic backbone to your pad before the wear leathers are added.
Customizing
If you have chosen a custom embroidery pattern, the corners are moved into the office before being glued to your pad. The corners are arranged on the embroidery machine, and your custom logo comes to life!
Glue
After the two halves have been stitched together, they go to the gluing room. Your chosen wear leathers and custom corners are brought in, and glued to the bottom edge of the pad. The heavy duty glue helps keep your wear leathers attached, and to ensure that they don’t lift during use.
More stitches
After the leathers have had time to dry, your pad goes over for it’s final stitch. The leathers are stitched to the pad by a machine, and WA LA! You now have a finished Best Ever Saddle Pad!
